It is our belief that the most necessary care for a woman through pregnancy and labor is nurturing and emotional support. From the moment she discovers she is expecting, the pregnant woman is faced with decisions regarding her health, her baby's health, and the future of her family.
It is neither our responsibility nor our goal to influence your decisions. Our role is to help you find answers to help you further your education about the birth process. Our goal is assure you that your pregnancy and labor experience is as incredibly satisfying as we know it can be!
Birth is a wonderful natural process which women are beautifully designed to perform. We believe that each woman is fully capable, outside of medical complications, to give birth to her baby without pain relievers or medical intervention. With that said, should you choose to employ the modern resources available to you, we will strive to ensure that your health care practitioner will respect your desires. Together we will work on a birth plan which reflects your personal philosophies and wishes. It is our responsibility to see that it is carried out as closely as is medically possible.
The transition to parenthood, whether for the first or subsequent time, can be very stressful on a new family. Postpartum depression is common among new mothers. We believe that all women should have access to help, should she feel the need. We can support you by lending a listening ear or by directing you to professionals who will help ease you into motherhood.
Pregnancy can be both exhilarating and exhausting, usually at the same time. Sometimes it is difficult to remember to capture the moments of your pregnancy through writing, art, or other means. Our goal is to encourage you to take advantage of this time through self expression and creativity in ways which will last long beyond pregnancy.
